Granny of Six-Year-Old Boy on Spectrum Creates Adult Colouring Book

Friday, 1 Apr 2016

No Text Inspired by her grandson, Heather Down, a writer and owner of Barrie, Ontario's Wintertickle Press wanted to do something practical to contribute to making the world a more tolerant place. So, she did what any publisher does best--she created a book.

Down's coloring book features inspirational quotes about Autism (ASD) called Color Up the Spectrum, and it is available on Amazon

"Adult coloring books are so on-trend right now. I thought this would be a great way to raise awareness and funds for Autism. Coloring is such a relaxing activity, and this book would make such a terrific gift for a parent, teacher, or coach of anyone with Autism."

Heather's grandson is quite high-functioning on the ASD spectrum. "That brings its own set of challenges," Down states. "Sometimes if you can't immediately see the situation with an individual, the expectations aren't always realistic. It can lead to misunderstandings. I want to improve awareness so that the world will be a better and more understanding place for my grandson when he grows up."

Heather is donating $1 from the sale of every book to Autism Speaks Canada, a registered charity furthering Autism Awareness.
